![]() The course includes making our own natural dyes (synthetic dyes will also work), our own resist from rice and bran, carving stencils from hand made mulberry paper, and much, much more. In addition, participants will be guided through the entire process of dyeing silk in the ancient Japanese traditions. An abundance of antique and contemporary samples will be presented to help participants understand the history and development of this versatile process. This lively and compact course is designed as an intensive introduction to the traditional arts of katazome and tsutsugaki, Japanese paste-resist dyeing.
